Caldwell Academy got a good showing from Liam Schooley, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schooley has become a key player for Caldwell Academy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Reid Silvers was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Spencer McBurney was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Salem Baptist Christian came into Tuesday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Oak Ridge Military Academy 17-4 on Tuesday. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ck Boyles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reece Pleasant, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eli Hedrick, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Salem Baptist Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Caldwell Academy now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Salem Baptist Christian, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Salem Baptist Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Caldwell Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Salem Baptist Christian, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Caldwell Academy's sizable advantage in that area, Salem Baptist Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
