Lordstown has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Bristol Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lordstown comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Thursday, Lordstown took a serious blow against Maplewood, falling 57-5. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lordstown in their matchups with Maplewood: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 65 points the game before, Bristol were a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They were outmatched by Badger at home and fell 52-19. While losing is never fun, Bristol can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 470th, while Badger is ranked 108th).
Lordstown bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.2 points per game. As for Bristol, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Lordstown took a serious blow against Bristol in their previous matchup back in January, falling 48-7. Can Lordstown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
