After flying high against the Champion Golden Flashes on Tuesday, the Garfield G-Men came back down to earth. Garfield took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cardinal on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Garfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Preston Gedeon, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Gedeon's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Nick Edic was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Garfield's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Cardinal, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garfield will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ravenna at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. As for Cardinal, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Varsity Opponent has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21.
