Verbena hasn't had much luck against West Blocton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Verbena didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Notasulga 16-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Colton Bice was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bice was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Paul W. Bryant hit West Blocton with a six-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Stampede by a score of 12-10. Even if the Tigers couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
