Two dominant players in Calvin Russel and Loghan Downie are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Northwestern Bulls and the South Fork Bulldogs will face off at 4:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Northwestern pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Woodward by a score of 59-56.
Despite their defeat, Northwestern saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Russel, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Russel scored a full 37.5% of Northwestern's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Myron Parker Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Fork unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 56-45 to Father Judge.
Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for South Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
