Given South Bend Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Goshen is ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading South Bend Washington to victory were Steven Reynolds 3 and Da'Kori Parker. Reynolds 3 scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Parker scored 18 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Reynolds 3 has scored at least 25% of South Bend Washington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Johnson, who scored 9 points.
Several RedHawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Eldridge, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. Eldridge scored a full 28.9% of Goshen's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gage Worthman, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
South Bend Washington's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Goshen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Washington will face off against South Bend Clay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Goshen, they will head out on the road to face off against Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhart is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
