Baseball Recap: Brimley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Brimley can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They never let the Alanson Vikings get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Bays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Vikings, too.

Scott Bowen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Brimley is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-8 otherwise. Bowen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other pitching news, Darren Johnson looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Trey Lynn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six stolen bases, and three runs. He has become a key player for Brimley: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Morrison, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Brimley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Brimley's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Alanson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brimley will square off against Pickford at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Bays surely won't give up without a fight. As for Alanson, they will host Harbor Light Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
