After both having extra time off, the Calvert Hall Cardinals and the Loyola Blakefield Dons will shake off the rust and duke it out at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Calvert Hall hasn't scored more than 13 points for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
On November 1st, a win is a win, as they say, even a pretty close 12-7 victory over Concordia Prep. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cardinals' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Saints are ranked 51st).

Oliver Noll had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 80 yards and one score, and also threw for 107 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Calvert Hall was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Calvert Hall's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Dillon Hardy was the leader with two. He also made four total tackles, which is notable because Calvert Hall is 4-2 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, while Loyola Blakefield put up plenty of points back in October, the same can't be said for SEED. The Dons claimed a resounding 42-0 win over the Sabers. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Dons this season.
Loyola Blakefield's win came from a few key players Calvert Hall will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carlos Spencer, who threw for 288 yards and four touchdowns. Mason Russell helped Spencer out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards.
Loyola Blakefield moved to 5-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Calvert Hall, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Thursday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Calvert Hall has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Loyola Blakefield, though, as they've been averaging only 81.1 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Calvert Hall couldn't quite finish off Loyola Blakefield in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 and fell 17-14. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
