For the first time this season, Lowndes will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Colquitt County Packers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lowndes comes in on five and Colquitt County on three.
Two weeks ago, Lowndes really took it to Kell for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-7 victory. Fans of the Vikings have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Jayce Johnson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 167 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Woods, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lowndes was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 215 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Lowndes didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anthony Martin. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.8 total tackles per game.
Meanwhile, Colquitt County was able to grind out a solid win over Rickards on Friday, taking the game 31-19. Given the Packers' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 13th in Georgia, while the Raiders are ranked 165th in Florida) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lowndes better keep an eye on Jae Lamar. He was instrumental in Colquitt County's win, rushing for 111 yards and three scores. Lamar is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Lowndes' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Colquitt County, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Woods and Lamar. Woods just won't slow down this season and has averaged 121.2 rushing yards per game. Lamar has been a dominant force too and has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 104.8 rushing yards per game.
Lowndes couldn't quite finish off Colquitt County in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 38-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lamar, who rushed for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards and one TD. Now that the Vikings know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
