Pontotoc proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 31) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-14 win over Corinth. Pontotoc's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Markavion Jones was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 109 yards and one TD.
Pontotoc didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Braighlen Thompson and Kash Doss.
Pontotoc's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Corinth, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pontotoc will venture away from home to face off against New Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Corinth, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Pontotoc at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
