Even though the Hoosic Valley Indians have not done well against the Tamarac Bengals recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Sunday. Hoosic Valley strolled past Tamarac with points to spare, taking the game 59-44. Given Hoosic Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Tamarac is ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Tamarac lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adam Rice. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Rice's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kamerin Edmonds was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Hoosic Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Tamarac, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoosic Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Hoosick Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tamarac will be home for the holidays to greet Greenwich at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
