Smith-Cotton had lost five straight headed into Tuesday's matchup, but Piper Cantrell didn't let it get to six. The Tigers won by a set and slipped past the Knob Noster Panthers 3-2 thanks in part to Cantrell, who had 25 digs and three aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more digs the last nine times she's played.

Smith-Cotton took Knob Noster into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-27, 24-26, 25-21, 15-9.

When it comes to explaining why Knob Noster lost on Tuesday, don't look at Kaelyn Eubanks. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs and one assist. Ella Goodrich also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Smith-Cotton's victory bumped their record up to 10-18-3. As for Knob Noster, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16-2 record this season.

Smith-Cotton will head out to take on Boonville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Knob Noster, they will head out on the road to square off against Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
