The Central Wolves will square off against the Pinconning Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Central is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Central's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to Midland, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, Pinconning got themselves on the board against Farwell on Thursday, but Farwell never followed suit. They blew past the Eagles 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Layla Foco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kailee Rugenstein, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ella Hunter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Pinconning always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pinconning is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Pinconning in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 8-4. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
