The St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins are taking a road trip to square off against the El Cerrito Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized El Cerrito's (thus far) undefeated season.
St. Patrick-St. Vincent came up short against Bethel on Tuesday, falling 17-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bruins have suffered against the Jaguars since February 20, 2019.
Gabriella Wida made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquelyn Benito, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, El Cerrito made easy work of Kennedy on Tuesday and carried off a 20-2 win. Fans of the Gauchos have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Natalia Gawlikowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
In other pitching news, Leah Sundstrom looked comfortable as she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Arlie Tatum was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sanai Vanhook, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
El Cerrito's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.the team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team won's by an average of 12.5 runs thus far As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
