Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Britt Prince of
Elkhorn North (Elkhorn) is the 2023-24 Nebraska MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-11 senior point guard led the Wolves to a 25-1 record and fourth straight Class B title.
For the season, Prince averaged 27.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 6.3
assists per game. She finished second all-time in Class B with 2,491
points. Elkhorn North went 97-5 in her four years in the program.
In a 49-47 win over Skutt Catholic (Omaha) in the state championship game, Prince tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds to help the Wolves overcome a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
Prince signed with Nebraska in November after fielding offers from Baylor, Iowa, Iowa State, Louisville and Oklahoma among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
