The Northampton County Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 41 points or more this season. They blew past Southeast Halifax 55-13 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.
It was another big night for Michaela Hodge, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Hodge is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Charlice Tyner was another key contributor, scoring no points along with nine rebounds and nine steals.
The win (which was Northampton County's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Southeast Halifax, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Northampton County is on the road again on Monday and play against North Edgecombe at 4:30 p.m. on January 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (North Edgecombe is ranked 282nd, while Northampton County is ranked 292nd). As for Southeast Halifax, they will face off against Wayne Preparatory Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
