The Victory Christian Academy Soldiers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Crossroads Christian Academy by a score of 59-47 on Friday. The victory was just what Victory Christian Academy needed coming off of a 66-24 defeat in their prior match.
Chris Belcher was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nelson Palacios, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Crossroads Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mikell Bond. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Bond continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Agendo Fitzgerald, who scored ten points.
The victory got Victory Christian Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Crossroads Christian Academy, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Southside Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Crossroads Christian Academy will take on Appling Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Appling Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday.
