3A Conference 17 recap December 3, 2013
Havelock added to the longest winning streak in 3A Conference 17 this week by beating North Forsyth, 48-2. This was the team's 15th consecutive win.
Havelock took down the Vikings 48-2 last week, the largest margin of any game. Derrell Scott ran for 202 yards in the win.
Jim Bryant's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Travis Sabdo threw for 90 and 2 touchdowns and Michael Bowman had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Scott chipped in 202 yards.
Scott was a passing and rushing force as the Rams bested North Forsyth. Scott's favorite target this week was Bowman, who caught 5 passes for 84 yards.
Scott was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Taylor Woods added to the ground attack by rushing for 84 yards.
Havelock's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sabdo has thrown for 2,207 yards and 33 touchdowns this season, while Bowman has 46 catches for 905 yards.
Bowman of the Havelock's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 95 receiving yards in this week's game against Eastern Wayne to get there. So far this year, he has acheived 46 catches for 905 yards.
Woods of the the Rams is only 34 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 110 carries Woods has accumulated 966 yard this year.
West Carteret made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,881 from 6,234.
