Basketball Recap: Riley Lee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Parrish Community over Gaither

Parrish Community saw some tournament action on Monday. They fell just short of the Gaither Cowboys by a score of 41-39.

Parrish Community's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Lee, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Lee a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Romana Lind, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Leading Gaither to victory were Riley Russell and Carolyn Emanuel. Russell dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, while Emanuel dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Emanuel is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games she's played. Kai White was another key player, putting up two points and three steals.

Parrish Community has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Gaither, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Parrish Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-45 loss against DeSoto County on the 2nd. As for Gaither, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-26 defeat against Weeki Wachee on the 2nd.
