After two games on the road, LaBrae is heading back home. They will take on the Brookfield Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, LaBrae was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-47 to Champion. LaBrae has struggled against Champion recently, as their match on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, LaBrae saw an underclassman step up: Mariah Jones dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Kuszmaul, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Brookfield suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Monday. They were beaten by Crestview 60-14. While losing is never fun, Brookfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while Crestview is ranked 130th).
LaBrae's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Brookfield, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.
LaBrae didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Brookfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 48-42 victory. Will LaBrae repeat their success, or does Brookfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
