The Petersburg Crimson Wave's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 24-0 defeat at the hands of Thomas Dale. While losing is never fun, Petersburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Thomas Dale is ranked 12th).
Petersburg's defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 Matoaca and 7-3 Hopewell (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.2% over those games). As for Thomas Dale, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Petersburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thomas Dale will be playing in front of their home fans against Western Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
