This season hasn't been kind to the Poudre Community Academy Warriors, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They suffered a tough 58-33 loss at the hands of Golden View Classical Academy on Monday. Poudre Community Academy was down 44-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Poudre Community Academy still got an impressive performance from Joslyn Schaeffer, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 29 rebounds. That was a full 51.5% of Poudre Community Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ash Beck, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Poudre Community Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Golden View Classical Academy found their leader in underclassman Gianna Acocella, who scored 16 points along with nine assists and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Acocella has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Le, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Poudre Community Academy dropped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.6 points per game. As for Golden View Classical Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poudre Community Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Two Roads Charter School at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. As for Golden View Classical Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Twin Peaks Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m.
