The Palm Beach Gardens Gators waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down North Broward Prep 63-45. Given Palm Beach Gardens' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while North Broward Prep is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palm Beach Gardens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaliyah Magwood led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Magwood has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Latasha Whyte, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.
Palm Beach Gardens pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for North Broward Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Palm Beach Gardens the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Martin County at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for North Broward Prep, North Broward Prep and Miami Country Day will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
