The Blue Valley Rams will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Onaga Buffaloes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Blue Valley has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Onaga will arrive with seven straight wins.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Blue Valley's offense. They lost 15-0 to Onaga on April 3rd.
For Onaga's part, Addison DeChant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, DeChant posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Annie Force was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ember Conger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Onaga always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Valley only posted an OBP of .250.
Onaga's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Blue Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blue Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Onaga struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
