The Venice Indians lost against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs back in November of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Venice fell to Lakewood Ranch 53-47. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Venice has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Venice still got an impressive performance from Marcel Fil, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Lakewood Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from David Young, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Young's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Allen, who scored nine points along with six steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Venice and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Lakewood Ranch, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Venice will take on Manatee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Manatee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Venice likes a good challenge. Lakewood Ranch won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Parrish Community at 7:30 p.m. on December 6th. Parrish Community is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.4 points per game.
