The Kentridge Chargers will head out on the road to square off against the Decatur Golden Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Kentridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Kentridge gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-23 win over Federal Way on the road. Given Kentridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Federal Way is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sydney Esperanza continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring ten points along with nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Jaya Brown was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Decatur has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Kennedy Catholic by a score of 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Decatur has suffered yet this season.
Kentridge's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7. As for Decatur, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Kentridge strolled past Decatur in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 61-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kentridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
