4A Northern recap Nov. 7, 2012
Nathan Merriman and Elijah Noterman provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Thompson Valley. The connection was good for 72 yards, the longest such play in 4A Northern this season.
Windsor extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Greeley West, 21-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Merriman put up the best numbers through the air as Niwot fell to the Eagles. He finished with a total of 17 completions for 281 yards and two touchdowns. Merriman's favorite target this week was Noterman, who caught five passes for 121 yards.
Forrest Wetterstrom was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 192 yards as Longmont fell to Loveland. Teammate Drake Greeott added to the ground attack by rushing for 28 yards.
Levi Stone made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Trojans topped Greeley Central. The junior pulled down one interception.
Kress was the best wideout in 4A Northern this week as the Mountain Lions lost to the Indians. Kress tallied five receptions for 129 yards. Josh Sandin helped Mountain View's passing attack out by catching two balls for 39 yards.
The Cougars' Merriman and Noterman have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Merriman has thrown for 2234 yards this season, while Noterman, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 36 catches for 765 yards. Windsor's Joe Sanger leads the league in rushing yards with 1196.
In 158 carries David Eddy has accumulated 968 yard this year.
Loveland and Mountain View played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Loveland eventually emerging with a 23-20 victory. Mike Zweigle threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns and ran for eight yards in the win.
