After flying high against the East Hill Christian Eagles last Saturday, the Destin Sharks came back down to earth. Destin fell 53-46 to Pensacola Catholic on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Destin of the 40-28 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Maddie Hammergren, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jenecia Swindell, who scored ten points.
Destin bumped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Pensacola Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Destin will take on Laurel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pensacola Catholic, they will be playing at home against Bayside Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
