The Lincolnwood Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Staunton Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
On Saturday, Lincolnwood didn't have quite enough to beat Warrensburg-Latham and fell 4-3.
Mason Tryon was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Tryon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Tryon wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cody Ganther, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Staunton made easy work of Metro-East Lutheran on Friday and carried off a 10-2 win.
Matthew Overby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Staunton got a massive performance out of Reese Bohlen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Bohlen a new career-high in RBI (two). Aiden Saracco was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
Staunton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Metro-East Lutheran only posted an OBP of .333.
Lincolnwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Staunton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Lincolnwood was able to grind out a solid win over Staunton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincolnwood since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
