The Shorecrest Prep Chargers will venture away from home to face off against the Tampa Catholic Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shorecrest Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
Shorecrest Prep made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Admiral Farragut, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chargers never let the BlueJackets get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. The game was the first time the Chargers have beaten the BlueJackets on their field since April 13, 2021.
Samantha Beltran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bobbie Strus, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madi Bidwell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Tampa Catholic fell victim to Chamberlain and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Storm by a score of 1-0. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Maddie Fulgueira was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Tampa Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillie Bridges, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Shorecrest Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Tampa Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shorecrest Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tampa Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Shorecrest Prep might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Tampa Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
