Flanagan-Cornell is 8-2 against the Minutemen since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Flanagan-Cornell Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Lexington Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Wednesday, Flanagan-Cornell came up short against the Vikings and fell 53-46. While losing is never fun, Flanagan-Cornell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Vikings are ranked 126th).
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Lexington had to settle for a 57-54 loss against the Chiefs on Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Lexington had strong showings from Ethan Storm, who scored 20 points along with three steals, and Griffen Hari, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Storm hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Olson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Flanagan-Cornell and nudges their season record down to 15-10. As for Lexington, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-7 record this season.
Flanagan-Cornell took a serious blow against the Minutemen in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 61-25. Thankfully for Flanagan-Cornell, Alec Thomas (who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
