Catskill is 2-8 against Chatham since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cats will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Catskill earned a 6-3 victory over Ichabod Crane. That's two games straight that the Cats have won by exactly three runs.

John McKenna made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Lucas Paquette looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025.
McKenna wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Davies, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Cam Newkirk also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Chatham never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Hudson. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Thomas Pierro, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Chatham's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Wilber, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Chatham's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Catskill, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Catskill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chatham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Catskill came up short against Chatham in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 9-5. Will the Cats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
