Even though the Omaha North Vikings have not done well against the Fremont Tigers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Omaha North simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fremont 56-29 on the road. With that win, Omaha North brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.
Milani Drake was a one-man wrecking crew for Omaha North as she scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Drake also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Caia McIntosh was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Despite the loss, Fremont still got an impressive performance from Jenna Mcclain, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 41.4% of Fremont's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Fremont struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Omaha North racked up 16 assists.
Omaha North's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Fremont, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Omaha North will challenge Papillion-LaVista at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Papillion-LaVista is coming into the matchup with five straight victories at home, so Omaha North is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Fremont, they and Lincoln North Star will face off at 5:45 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lincoln North Star has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
