The Santa Ana Saints will be home for the holidays to greet the Calvary Chapel Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Ana knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Calvary Chapel likes a good challenge.
Santa Ana pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fullerton.
Loss or not, Santa Ana got some senior leadership from Jack Rivera who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and Osten Achmad who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Rivera scored a full 46.4% of Santa Ana's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ruben Guerrero was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Estancia 63-59. That's two games in a row now that Calvary Chapel has lost by exactly four points.
Santa Ana bumped their record down to 4-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Calvary Chapel, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Santa Ana lost to Calvary Chapel at home by a decisive 48-34 margin in their previous matchup back in January. Can Santa Ana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
