The South Lakes Seahawks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 28-24 victory over Westfield. This was payback for South Lakes, who suffered a 40-15 defeat the last time these two teams met.
South Lakes had a senior duo take command as Nick Harris threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns and James Zschunke picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
South Lakes' win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Oakton and 2-8 Osbourn (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.7% over those games). As for Westfield, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
South Lakes will be playing at home against Yorktown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yorktown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 118th, while South Lakes is ranked ninth). As for Westfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington-Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington-Liberty is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
