The South Bulldogs lost against the Central Crossing Comets back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. South fell 48-38 to Central Crossing. South has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, South saw an underclassman step up: Gabby Grimes scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. J'Khyla Foster was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Central Crossing's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cheyenne Taylor led the charge by scoring 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Woods, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
South's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-5. As for Central Crossing, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South will take on Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Crossing, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Marysville at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Marysville will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
