Baseball Game Preview: Whiteland Warriors vs. Plainfield Quakers

For the second straight game, Whiteland will face off against Plainfield. The Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Quakers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whiteland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.

Whiteland proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Plainfield, sneaking past 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since May 11, 2024.

Peyton Wingfield tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Blake Riddle was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Wilson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Whiteland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Whiteland, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Whiteland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Plainfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
