Baseball Recap: Central Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Central won the last time they faced Santa Rosa Christian and things went their way on Monday too. The Central Jaguars walked away with a 7-4 win over Santa Rosa Christian. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by exactly three runs.

Brock Schmidt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Payton Holland was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Quincy Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

Central's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Santa Rosa Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

The future could be bright for both Central and Santa Rosa Christian: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Central will try to hand Pine Forest their ninth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Santa Rosa Christian will look to extend West Florida Baptist Academy's three-game losing streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on March 11th.
