I Sunrise - Northeast recap Sept. 26, 2012
Silverado was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in I Sunrise - Northeast. Earlier in the week, the Skyhawks defeated Eldorado 37-13.
Green Valley was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Coronado 33-26. The Gators came in at 13 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Las Vegas's dynamic duo of Trevor Swenson and Joshua Mayfield proved tough for Cimarron-Memorial to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Swenson threw for 151 yards and one touchdown and Mayfield had 95 yards receiving. Raymone Robinson helped Las Vegas' passing attack out by catching three balls for 28 yards.
Alex Cater was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 366 yards on 32 carries as Silverado topped the Spartans. Teammate Alek Aragon added to the ground attack by rushing for 72 yards.
Las Vegas' Swenson and Mayfield have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Swenson has thrown for 527 yards this season, while Mayfield, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 15 catches for 146 yards. The Skyhawks' Cater leads the league in rushing yards with 788.
Green Valley made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,048 from 6,772. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 33-26 victory over the Cougars last week.
