McKeesport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway only posted an OBP of .273.
McKeesport's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Franklin Regional, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
McKeesport's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Franklin Regional has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for McKeesport, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Franklin Regional's sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
