The Cypress Lake Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 53-25 win over Marco Island Academy on the road. The win was some much needed relief for Cypress Lake as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Cypress Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lilly Witz out in front who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Grosshuesch, who scored 11 points.
Cypress Lake's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Marco Island Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Cypress Lake's road trip will continue as they head out to face Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Dunbar will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while Cypress Lake is ranked 282nd). As for Marco Island Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome North Fort Myers at 5:00 p.m. on January 8th. Hopefully North Fort Myers focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 two weeks ago.
