Pascagoula has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Jackson Academy Raiders in a holiday battle at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pascagoula has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 55-32 margin over Hancock. Given Pascagoula's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Hancock is ranked 131st), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Jackson Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Starkville by a score of 63-54.
Mike Williams was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Jackson Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Lyles, who scored eight points.
Pascagoula's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Jackson Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-0.
