Purdue Polytechnic is 0-7 against Herron since September of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Techies will be playing at home against the Achaeans at 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Purdue Polytechnic came up short against International and fell 3-1.
Purdue Polytechnic was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made International work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Herron had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Continentals.
The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Herron was: they took both sets by at least 15 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-8.
Herron's win came from a few key players Purdue Polytechnic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Layla Williams, who had seven assists and four aces. That's the most assists she has posted over her last four matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Addilyn Durham, who had 11 assists and four aces.
Herron was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 13 aces in three consecutive contests.
Herron's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Purdue Polytechnic, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Purdue Polytechnic has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Herron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
