After flying high against the Sault Area Blue Devils last Friday, The Petoskey Northmen came back down to earth. Petoskey lost to Clare at home by a decisive 28-14 margin on Friday. It was the first time this season that Petoskey let down their fans at home.
Clare can attribute much of their success to Jayden Arthur, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 152 yards and a touchdown. Westyn Bryant and his 103 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Clare's victory.
Clare's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jake Punches and his two sacks.
Petoskey's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Clare, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Petoskey will head out on the road to face off against Marquette at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Marquette is ranked 157th, while Petoskey is ranked 154th). As for Clare, they will be playing at home against Bullock Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
