Meanwhile, The Meadows School never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Mater Academy East Las Vegas with a sharp 9-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won ten games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Simon Tesfaye was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tesfaye was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Parker Semenza was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Virgin Valley's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for The Meadows School, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Virgin Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. However, it's not like The Meadows School struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Virgin Valley came up short against The Meadows School when the teams last played back in March, falling 7-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
