Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.) put up seven points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 24-0 victory over
Poston Butte (San Tan Valley, Ariz.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Reggie Blader in the first quarter, the Pumas led 17-0 at the half.
Perry's standout player in the win was Blader. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Coming into the game PHS had allowed 18.2 points per game this year. The Gilbert school held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Broncos well below the 26.2 points it had been averaging per game.
A 63-35 Perry victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Poston Butte defeated Coolidge 13-12 last week. With the win Perry extended its winning streak to three games.
Perry (5-2) will play a non-conference game against Basha next week, while Poston Butte (4-3) will take on Queen Creek in a III Section I game.
