Baseball Recap: Ferguson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Keys Gate

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ferguson). Everything went their way against the Keys Gate Knights on Monday as they made off with an 18-11 victory. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Ferguson got a great performance from Brandon Esquea as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Esquea has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Adrian Perez was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Rosales, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Ferguson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ferguson's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Keys Gate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Ferguson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Keys Gate, they will welcome ABF Academy Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
