Basketball Recap: Westside Takes a Loss

Westside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 38th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Academy of Richmond County Musketeers 55-22. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Musketeers are ranked 211th).

Westside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Glover, who posted 13 points. The dominant performance gave Glover a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Emoni Brown, who put up seven points.

Academy of Richmond County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but NaCja Johnson led the charge by putting up 14 points. Jahmaya Lambert was another key player, earning nine points.

Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Academy of Richmond County, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.

Westside has already played their next game, an 86-16 loss against Baldwin on the 31st. As for Academy of Richmond County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-46 victory against Howard on the 31st.
