Given Silver Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Heartland Lutheran is ranked 272nd), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tayten Menke was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Keaton Karr, who scored four points along with four steals.
Silver Lake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Heartland Lutheran, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silver Lake will face off against Harvard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Heartland Lutheran, they will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
