The Mercyhurst Prep Lakers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Sharpsville 49-0 at home. Fans of Mercyhurst Prep have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Paul Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 178 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 76 yards and a touchdown. Johnson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Ganska, who rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Mercyhurst Prep has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-0 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Iroquois and 1-8 Slippery Rock (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.1% over those games). As for Sharpsville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Mercyhurst Prep will head out on the road to face off against Farrell at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sharpsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
